A few days ago I took part in something called Help Portrait. It was started by Jeremy Cowart (my favorite artist!), in which photographers, or anyone with a camera, an eyeball, and a finger, take photos for families who cant afford or don’t have the recourses during the holiday season. There was no event that I could find in Milwaukee, so I made up my own with my friend, Laura. We went to a pretty low-income part of Milwaukee and drove around for about an hour until we found a family. I jumped out of the car, ran down the block and asked a mom with her 2 daughters if I could take the picture, print it and bring it back. She agreed, and my help portrait experience had been fulfilled! This Sophia (in red) and Alani (with the slippers), and the faithful mothers hand. A very good experience for exploring. I’m excited to see more.
